The Killing Fields of Choeung Ek

Khmer Rouge. 1975-1979. Two million people killed (at least). 17,000 deaths at this one camp. Mass graves. The stupa (center) is a tower of skulls to remember the dead.

A terrible legacy of my generation, but unfortunately atrocities don't seem to skip generations of humans. I hope you see examples of generosity, love, and hope also during the remainder of your trek.

Katie, these pictures are almost too much to take in. I can't imagine the impact the real thing has on you. Your photos are very powerful.
