A small group of us got to take four elephants (along with several dog escorts) up to a more primitive camp in the hills for an overnight stay. The elephants get to roam around 40 acres for the whole night (they have to be chained overnight at the park). We walked for about two hours, ate dinner, listened to the mahoots play "traditional" music (they knew three Thai songs, a kids' song about elephants, and about ten Christmas carols), and then slept early on the floor of the hut.
